New Solid State Relay From NPH Heater Handles Big Loads in a Small Package
Smaller than a matchbox, new solid state relays designed by NPH Heater will switch up to 10 amperes.
Key to the large capacity is an integral heat sink made from tiny forest of 28 aluminum prongs projecting from the relay to form a compact unit capable of quickly dissipating heat. The result is a relay that is only 0.9 inches wide but can carry load current of up to 10 amps on a line voltage ranging from 48 to 660 volts AC at an ambient temperature of 30°C.
The overall dimensions of the new relay, including the DIN rail mount, are 0.9 x 2.67 x 3.25 inches. Because the heat sink is designed for universal airflow, the slim unit can be mounted either vertically or horizontally on a DIN rail.
The package is sold individually or in customized pre-assembled arrays.
Two models are available which can accept input levels from different controllers. Model HBC-11-SF480D25 is designed for a controller range of 3 to 15 volts DC, while model HBC-11-SFE480D25 will handle a controller range of 15 to 32 volts DC. An on-board LED lights when the correct level of power is flowing to the relay; a metal oxide varistor protects the relay output against transients. Since there are no exposed wires, finger-safe covers are not required.
